Removing Titanium Plate and Screws after Surgery?

14/06/2018  About 6 months ago (around 3 years after the genioplasty), my surgeon tried to remove the plate and screws. He was able to get some of the screws out but I think one screw and the plate was left in due to the bone having grown over the plate and screw. Is there any way the plate and screw could still be removed, despite being buried in bone? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.

Removal of jaw surgery plates - Metal Mouth Message

09/04/2015  I had a Le Forte upper jaw surgery several years ago and am now having the plates and screws removed as a last resort to see if the screws are causing my severe and frequent sinus infections. Using metal plates and screws, or a long nail, allows the bone after a fracture to be restored to an optimal position, anatomical if possible, back out to normal length, normally aligned, and to be held rigidly in a stable position while the bone healing occurs. The role of the hardware therefore is simply to stabilise the fracture in the correct position while it heals. Normally, it takes ...

I had bits and pieces taken out after my surgery due to various issues, and finally I had all the remaining hardware removed at three years post-op.
